Cypress House encapsulates the australian beach house ethic of sustainable, stress-free living.

The house is in the old part of Point Lookout on North Stradbroke Island, within easy walking distance of all the beaches.

Designed by Drew Heath, a Wilkinson Award-winning architect from Tasmania, Cypress House shows the purity of simplicity and a profound grasp of space and scale.

A palette of cypress pine, eucalypt hardwoods and fine translucent sheet was used to build in a contemporary Japanese style.

Three bedrooms with a king, queen and double beds can accommodate a couple seeking privacy or a group of six.

Point Lookout’s most striking house was designed in the Japanese tradition of elegant spaces and expressed structure to create a zone of quiet contemplation.

The house is an innovative mix of raw timber, hi-tech materials and huge openings to the native bush.

Cypress House is best enjoyed opened up to take in the island breezes. It is a simple, lofty space. Let the outside in, or move outside at night, light the fire and lie back to enjoy the evening sky.
